Ever since I first met Paulo, I was amazed that he had managed to analyze chord shapes and harmonies on my own work that I had long forgotten myself. Turning his attention to Genesis’ 1972 album Foxtrot, he has applied his rigorous and focused style to what has become for fans a classic album of the early band. Paulo has taken on the hydra headed monster and remains undefeated by its challenges.

            I highly recommend this book for anybody who wants to dissemble and play the Genesis music that has inspired musicians from all genres for many years.

The second volume within a collection of complete guitar transcriptions of Steve Hackett’s solo career albums, which follows and completes my first book/songbook The Sound of Steve Hackett: A Selection of Guitar Transcriptions from His Solo Career, the book includes an unprecedented chart, made by me, of the gears and equipment Steve used in the studio, along with the guitar adaptation of some parts of the flute, piccolo, and other instruments. During both the transcriptions and adaptions I have made, I continue to amaze myself by so many delightful details that Steve inputs in his works.

In continuation of The Sound of Steve Hackett: A Selection of Guitar Transcriptions from His Solo Career, the present book The Sound of Steve Hackett, Vol. 1: The Complete Guitar Transcriptions of Voyage of the Acolyte contains the first complete guitar transcriptions ever published on Steve’s debut solo album Voyage of the Acolyte, featuring notes, tablatures and chords. It also includes unpublished charts of the instruments and gears that Steve used to record the album.

A mixing of a book and a songbook, this work includes the first guitar transcriptions on Steve’s solo career ever published. It features notes, tablatures, and chords. While carefully transcribing his music, Paulo De Carvalho had the privilege of asking Steve in person questions about fingerings, chord shapes, techniques, timbre, and musical gears that he used. Steve carefully revised the information added to the book. Because of that, the present songbook contains authentic transcriptions.
